We have been on this journey with homeopathy for almost 5 years now. In those 5 years I have talked about homeopathy with so many people, or at least tried too. Mainly because I am so completely enamored with what it has done for us that I can’t stay quiet about it. I want everyone to know there is this amazing way to health and healing out there!
What I have discovered in talking with people is that a lot of people don’t know what homeopathy is, and they don’t know that they don’t know. Most people THINK they know what it is, but sadly once you get into the conversation it’s obvious they are not on the same page as you. Even just a quick search of homeopathy on Pinterest reveals this as an obvious truth.
What do you get when you search for homeopathy on Pinterest? Well, let’s see… Just a few off the top of my head are essential oils, herbal remedies, folk remedies, nutritional supplements, and so on.
So what is homeopathy then, you might ask? Well, I will not be attempting to explain what homeopathy is in scientific terms. Unfortunately, anytime I have attempted to do that it is the exact point in which I lose a person and their eyes start to glaze over. Hah! So, I will be going about it another way. I will try to explain homeopathy in a manner in which most people can relate.
Let me first explain homeopathy to you by telling you what it is not. This can help to paint a clearer picture of what we have with homeopathy.
Homeopathy is NOT:
It is NOT any of the following generalized terms:
BUT it can be a treatment protocol used in conjunction with any of the above listed therapies.
So what you may be starting to see is homeopathy is a SPECIFIC type of treatment and NOT a generalized term to describe all things natural health and healing related. Homeopathy is a specific scientific treatment for all things pertaining to the body, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Now that I have painted a picture of what it homeopathy is not, let’s talk a little more about what it is. Homeopath Joette Calabrese describes homeopathy as:
“a system of medicine that is fundamentally different from conventional (allopathic) medicine. Whereas allopathic medicine focuses on suppression of symptoms, homeopathy seeks to correct the underlying imbalance that caused the symptoms in the first place. Homeopathy achieves this by strengthening the body’s own defenses, thereby allowing the body to heal itself.”
To be a “Homeopath” or “Homeopathic Doctor” you must have specific training in the science of homeopathy.
Have you ever been in a health food store and seen the type of display? These are homeopathic remedies. They are specific and unique to themselves.
Homeopathic remedies look like this. Now that doesn’t look like herbs, vitamins, or essential oils does it? That looks kind of different, right? Specific and unique. (Side note: You are not supposed to touch remedies like this. I only did this for the picture.)
How I tend to describe homeopathy is: it is what we are all truly looking for in regards to medicine. Hear me out here… Every time you go to the doctor looking for an answer for what ails you and you get sent away with a bunch of ordered tests and prescriptions to be filled. You dutifully follow all your doctors orders and one, or two, or five years later you are the same or worse off than when you started.
Nothing has really been answered, or solved, or changed. Sure your original complaint may be manageable now or gone, but now you have all these new issues popping up. At first you think to yourself this must be what getting older is all about, but yet you have this nagging feeling somethings not quite right. Then there comes a point when you wonder to yourself, “There must be a better way.”
This my friend is that better way. Homeopathy. Most people who find their way to homeopathy talk about how it has changed their life, how they had that “ah ha” moment when they realized what they had just encountered. It really is revolutionary. It has the power to change your life.
Anyway my friend, I hope you have somewhat of a better understanding for what homeopathy is and what it is not.
I would love to hear about any experiences you have had with homeopathy. Please let me know in the comments if you have tried homeopathy before, or maybe you didn’t even know that it existed? In my next post on homeopathy I will cover what homeopathy can do for you. xx
